Recently, BBC reported the Czech government expresses regret over sterilisation of women during the Communism period which ended in 1990. However, the last reported sterilisation case was in 2003, and the government does nothing.

Although the mistreatment of women by government may not be a surprise to some people, including me, it makes me wonder when will the government open their eyes and stop causing these terrible things to women. I still find it disturbing that we are in the year 2009 and this still continues. One of the things I found the most disturbing from the article was that some of the women did not simply know what the word "sterilisation" meant.
I know I am based in the United States and may not know the resources these women have such as translators in countries like Czech.
This article rises the the reason why many of us become activists in our communties and how educating others with the right information is so important in order to allow people to be able to make healthy life decisions.
