How dare you use the health care debate, a debate that affects women the most (Yes, I said it. Do I need to even start discussing pre-existing conditions and how much more we pay for receiving less care?), to take away our right to abortion.

It may seem to you, (the simpleminded I guess?) that because we have the right to abortion via Roe v. Wade that we actually are always able to access it. Wrong. If you can’t afford an abortion, you can’t access an abortion.  It’s really that simple.

The fact that you passed the Stupak amendment which steps on the reproductive health services I am able to receive based on what I pay with MY money BLOWS MY MIND.

The fact you want to make women jump through extra hoops with a so-called “abortion rider” is ridiculous and nonsensical.

How is it that in a Democratic Congress, with a Democrat in the White House, that my reproductive rights, the rights of my family, and the rights of my friends are being stripped away?

Why exactly do you think you were elected?

This is certainly not why we voted you into office.

But don’t worry. The great thing about us women is that we are great at remembering things.  We remember birthdays. We remember anniversaries.

And we remember votes.

The good news is that we have the Senate bill that must be dropped (hopefully without this wack language), and you may have a chance to redeem yourselves when you go to committee with them.

But don’t ever…EVER....chip away at women’s health in the name of health care reform again.  Don't worry.  We'll be here to remind you in case you forget.

Talk to you soon,

A PISSED OFF VOTER

Wow, great post. I could definitely feel your anger in this letter. Yeah it really is a shame how all of this is working out.

I love this! Linked to it in my post. A bunch of people are going to send hangers to the Dems who voted for the Stupak Amendment and I think your letter would fit nicely in the envelope with them. We're organizing on this Facebook group: http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=170766567967 called Stupak Amendment REVOLT.

~wow...you said it all rite there girlie...I am in total agreement. I just attended a Speak Out in Hartford CT yesterday on Womens Repro Rights. What a rediculous thing to be passed. Esp in the generation we live in now. I thought we were past all this mess. Im glad your letter is getting passes along to the senate. We have to stop them NOW.

Great post! Abortion IS a right that we have in this country, and limiting what the House did saturday night was dispiccable.  I was shocked that 64 dems would vote for this.  It is certainly the largest step back for reproductive rights in a long time.

This issue also affects men as well as women.  Fathers with younger daughters who have an unintended pregnancy might now face financial ruin trying to pay out of pocket for an abortion, and yes there are single fathers I know quite a few of them.  And its hard.
Also, being a teen guy myself, I know that it is very upsetting to know that women have this restricted abortion coverage with their insurance. I don't want to become a father yet, and if I accidentally get a girl pregnant (which can still happen even when proper protection is used, although rarely) than our options might e very limited.  It would be a choice between paying a lot of money out of pocket, becoming a father, or having the women seek an unsafe, although cheaper, abortion in some sketchy place. Limiting acsess to abortion is not ok, period.  And it affects a lot of people.  Shame on you, US house or Representives.

 This part...

"But don’t worry. The great thing about us women is that we are great at remembering things.  We remember birthdays. We remember anniversaries.

And we remember votes."

...was brilliant. The whole thing was absolutely magnificent, but these were the lines that made me smile. You know, the grim smile of women everywhere who know they have a fight ahead, the one that says, "Bring it on."

Well, it is so obvious that they failed. They cannot even tell anything about their accomplishment. Some are just the usual things like a flat tire, but others can be a nightmare that makes one feel like they're in a triathlon.  In these cases, you want a financial fitness boost – but sometimes not from a credit card.  In case of a blow to your financial fitness that you need to resolve quickly, you can try a payday loan, with minimal strain.
