Why is it so hard for parents to have “The Talk” with their children? You would think that parents would know that that time is coming so why when it does… its like their lips freeze up? I feel that it’s the same way with the school system. I say this because they can teach young people about abstinence, but as the young people get older and need the talks the most, they don’t get it. Some parents will teach their kids to not do this… and not do that… BUT hey, we are young people, so our minds are going to wonder!! So the question that I am as king is where the kids step 2 talks is when they are entering the world. That next step is educating them on contraceptives and ways to prevent them from becoming pregnant or contracting an STD. I feel that the world today really needs to let loose, and realize that some young people are going to choose to be sexually active. The sooner society understands this, the better off young people will be. It is better for young people to have the necessary access to services and knowledge about their birth control options as opposed to hearing myths that “this birth control does this and that birth control does that”. It is a tragedy that there are myths out there about birth control which can often times lead to young people becoming afraid to use contraceptives at all. All in all, it is very important to have open, honest, and educational conversations with young people about being sexually health and being able to prevent unplanned pregnancies and STDS. World, we really need to get it together, and I mean FAST!!!!
