GACC Update

I just heard back from our Student Health Clinic and the Counselling Center and both have refused to make condoms available and have encouraged me to get rid of the condoms (i.e. donating them to a local county health center) ASAP so that I would not get into trouble. They equated promoting condoms on campus to passing out free needles so we could all shoot up heroin.

sigh.

I'm not dumping the condoms off somewhere but I'm not sure how to spread them among the student body. Word of mouth only goes so far when you're not sure who is going to rat you out for promoting safer sex.

suggestions?

I just received my box of 500 condoms as a GACC official college safesite.

I'm struggling to figure out what to do next. I go to a tiny uber-conservative methodist college in Kentucky, so an in-your-face campaign is out of the question. Being sexually active is grounds for immediate expulsion. Which is why it's so important that these students have condoms. No one is going to buy condoms because they're either afraid of being seen or else they think buying a condom makes their "sin" pre-meditated. Instead they wait until the heat of the moment and have unprotected sex. Which occasionally leads to pregnancy (the girl inevitable drops out for a semester or two and then comes back married and tight-lipped about her baby at home).

I've contacted our student health center about having condoms available in the waiting and examination rooms along with information about safer sex and proper condom use. I'm still waiting to hear back about that.

I also plan on contacting our counseling center about having condoms available there.

Other than that I've just contacted some friends through a facebook note, and plan to hand out condoms as needed.

Any ideas on how to distribute these without getting shit from the administration?
