The mock one of the female condom is, and yes I sadly speak from experience, an uncomfortable and fairly unpractical tool of contraception for the M.S.M. community. The original design made use of a plastic ring that reminded me vaguely of the jelly bracelets we wore in middle school. This ring was inserted into the vaginal canal to hold the mechanism in place; however the rectal ramifications of this procedure are less then pleasant. The best way for me to describe it is to remind you all of the old saying, “you’re walking like you have a corn cob up your butt.”
And yes I did.
But, a few months ago a friend of mine who is affiliated with a L.G.B.T.Q.A. youth group, that also works for the Health department, gave me a sample condom of the new version of the female condom. I was surprised at first. I wanted to play with it, but she urged me, knowing I was fairly sexually adventurous, to try it out.
And yes I did.
I must explain first that when I was told how to use the first version of the FC they suggested I take out the plastic ring, which I did after the first attempt failed miserably. Yet, it really wasn’t very practical. The bag would fall out if you are having rough sex. The bag doesn’t have smooth edges. All in all I only use it as a last resort. The new FC is much easier to insert anally. Its smooth edges and polyurethane base makes it much more comfortable and sensible. I would advise everyone read the directions, and if you are a male using the FC2 I advise you use more lube. You can almost never have too much lube. I promise you will enjoy your experience.
And yes I did. ;D
If you have any questions about the new VA W.O.W. condom go to avert.org.
With love and hope,
Ryan
