Once again discrimination in the land of the "free" prevails!

In my Bible, God has not changed and his words have not changed," said Dennis Dutton, assistant pastor of Calvary Chapel West Oahu. "This is about upholding the first institution established by our Lord."

I don't know if I will ever fully understand the hatred for gays in this country but until EVERY MAN AND WOMAN IS VIEWED EQUALLY we need to stop saying this is the land of the free. Yesterday in Honolulu officials took another stab at civil unions, the underhanded version of marriage for gays. According to the Associated Press...

More than 1,400 people signed up to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, who took more than 15 hours of testimony before voting at 3 a.m. It was the largest turnout for a Capitol hearing in years.

I think we need more turnouts like this every time, but that's just my opinion.

At least 18 of the 25 senators have said they favor civil unions. The measure already has passed the Hawaii House, but with one vote less than would be needed to override a veto.

Republican Gov. Linda Lingle has not stated her position on the bill, which would make Hawaii the fifth state to allow same-sex civil unions. Under the state constitution, the earliest the bill can be pulled to the Senate floor is March 10.

I find that the arguments that are used against gay marriage come from a deep rooted hatred based on many misconceptions.

Gabbard held up children's books with titles like "Daddy's Wedding" and "It's Perfectly Normal" as he claimed that "these books would be taught in our schools" if the civil-unions bill passes.

I didn't learn about heterosexual marriage in school and I can't think of any schools that teach it, maybe a religious institution or something of that merit but nothing official. Why are people arguing that gay marriage would be taught in schools? I don't see how marriage is fundamental to a proper education at all, I'd really like to know what schools have marriage in their syllabus so I can ask their officials why is that necessary. And if it is necessary and gay marriage eventually gets taught in schools, what's so bad about that? I think the problem lies with those that believe homosexuality is a choice and it would "mislead" youth to choosing a homosexual life.

Well I am sorry but I wouldn't choose to be rediculed my entire life, damned by the faith based communities, ostracized from friends and family, being a victim of violent attacks and HATED by society. Who would purposely choose that?
