According to BBC news Pope Benedict discourages modern interpretation of gender and how many are living their lives now....
My question to the Pope is, what about inter-sexed individuals? He seems to feel that he is protecting God's creation by discouraging transgendered and homosexuals from their self-expression but I don't think he realizes who is really listening to him. His words are not only condemning us under the rainbow but inspires those that hate us.When the Roman Catholic Church defends God's Creation, "it does not only defend the earth, water and the air... but (it) also protects man from his own destruction," he said.
Rev Sharon Ferguson, chief executive of Britain's Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, described the Pope's remarks as "totally irresponsible and unacceptable".
"When you have religious leaders like that making that sort of statement then followers feel they are justified in behaving in an aggressive and violent way," she said.
I so very agree with Reverand Ferguson, just my own experiences with redicule and persecution about my sexuality and my twin's gender expression from religious groups have always been negative. The Pope may think he is coming from a good place but he is only fueling the fire we have been struggling to put out for so long. Bigots take remarks like these as an excuse to discriminate against us and it shouldn't be tolerated any longer.
I am outraged that this is continuing to be a problem for us, the church was never supposed to tear people down, it is supposed to lift us up.All we want to do is love one another and love ourselves, someone needs to give Mr. Benedict his news!
The Pope needs to use his platform to teach love and acceptance not religious persecution.

A lot of well-intentioned people follow the Pope's word, thinking anything he says must be true because he is the Pope. It's unfortunate that someone with so much influence is sometimes sending the wrong message.
