Do you think CBS should air Tim Tebow's anti-choice ad during the Super Bowl?
Yes. As long as both sides have equal time.
No. CBS promised that it wouldn't air "advocacy ads" of any kind.
I don't care. Who's Tim Tebow?

While we ecstatically celebrate the **defunding** of abstience-only sex education in President Obama's proposed 2010 budget-

- Wait.  Acutally, take a moment to celebrate!!! -

We also need to recognize a huge loss.  As a colleague of mine wrote in an email yesterday, "so he punked out on the Hyde Amendment".

For many of us, the election of President Obama means a lot of hope and already won/upcoming victories.  But just because we win some, doesn't mean we should be conceding to the losses.  As the Center for Reproductive Rights so appropriately puts it:

Obama Budget Ignores Healthcare Needs of Millions of Women, But Rejects Wasteful Abstinence-Only Funding
The Hyde Amendment, which bans federal funding for abortion, makes vidal reproductive health care **inaccessible** to people on Medicaid, people in the military, federal employees, those who rely on Indian Health Services, incarcerated people, and those in the Peace Corps - just to name a few.  This all at a time when many people continue to lose their jobs.

I hope we can learn to celebrate and continue fighting, simultaneously!

Great argument. I like how you raised this subtle point about how it is possible to both agree with certain policies and disagree at the same time. I think it is essential that we continue to put pressure on this administration to recognize the Hyde Amendment. I really want to write a post about Obama and reproductive health because I realized lately that sometimes I think I understand where he stands and other times I do not. I am not in any way trying to say that there is not a huge amount of politics here complicating things but it would be great to at least be able to identify a general trend.
