In a recent study, 47% of young men, compared to 55% of 50-year-old men believe that their wives should "do whatever they want."
Younger men are becoming more conservative than their fathers are when it comes to the role of their partners. These young men would prefer their partners to stay home, cook, clean and take care of the kids, the classic 50's housewife role. The only problem is this image is extremely sexist. In today's world women are just as equal as men, we sit next to them in classrooms, compete with them for jobs, and should play equal roles in relationships. But this recent study is showing a reverse movement on the issue.
The study says that these young men's reasoning is because they watched their mothers struggle with full time jobs along with raising a family. This makes sense, as they don't want their wife's to struggle, but instead of the male taking on some of the household work, they want the female to completely give up her career and devote themselves to the home.
