J.Crew recently released an ad picturing a mother and son laughing together. The little boy's toe nails have been painted bright pink, which has caused quite an outrage.

The has been complaint about how by painting the boy's toenails will cause him to question his sexuality and gender identity at a later date. The little boy's mother says that the little boy's favorite color is indeed pink.

Fox news reported Keith Ablow said, "Put some money aside for psychotherapy for the kid."

It is ridiculous to think that something as innocent as nail polish will have an impact over the child's sexuality. You can not turn your children gay by painting their nails pink. Sexuality is a much deeper issue that is not easily influenced, especially by something like nail polish. If the little boy is gay, there is nothing wrong with that, or If the little boy is heterosexual who just likes to have his toe nails painted, there is nothing wrong with that either.

A condom company, Sir Richards, has adopted the same mission as Tom's Shoes.
Buy a pair of shoes, a pair is given to a developing country.
Buy a condom, one gets donated to a developing country, especially countries with high HIV risks.

This is a genius idea in my opinion.
Oh and the packaging is really cool too.
Check em out!

Last night, December 2, a program was held in my building called "Let's talk about sex baby" for the female residents. The program was hosted by the female RAs and hall director. They brought in a health professor who explained many different things to us. She discussed everything from condoms to yeast infections. She also explained what transgender means. I thought this program was very informative, and a lot of the girls seemed to be learning new information. I hope the hall will host a similar event for more than just females. I feel that everyone could benefit from learning new information like this, especially in a college setting, when many young people are at a higher risk for STIs and unplanned pregnancy.

First transgender judge elected in the U.S.!

It's a huge step for our country, and hopefully will raise awareness that there are people out there with different gender identities than male and female. And, that those people can be successful and live normal everyday lives.

On November 10th, the TFN student chapter at Texas State University held it's first table day. We got over 150 petition postcards signed and some great contact information! We met a ton of people who expressed interest in joining our chapter when we start holding regular meetings.
It was a great start to our chapter!

In a recent study, 47% of young men, compared to 55% of 50-year-old men believe that their wives should "do whatever they want."

Younger men are becoming more conservative than their fathers are when it comes to the role of their partners. These young men would prefer their partners to stay home, cook, clean and take care of the kids, the classic 50's housewife role. The only problem is this image is extremely sexist. In today's world women are just as equal as men, we sit next to them in classrooms, compete with them for jobs, and should play equal roles in relationships. But this recent study is showing a reverse movement on the issue.

The study says that these young men's reasoning is because they watched their mothers struggle with full time jobs along with raising a family. This makes sense, as they don't want their wife's to struggle, but instead of the male taking on some of the household work, they want the female to completely give up her career and devote themselves to the home.

The story is about how older Afghan men have young boys as lovers. Which is all in all its own problem in American culture since it means they are raping these boys. One man says "Whoever wants to show off should have a boy." The young boys usually between 9 and 15 are treated as objects, and the men's reasoning for this is rather interesting.

In their culture women are "unclean" and have to be completely covered from head to toe. A man can not even speak to a woman until after they are married, and they can't even see what the woman they plan on marrying looks like.
Would you marry someone you've never seen before, who's said to be unclean and you've never even talked to?

One man asks how his wife can become pregnant and when given the answer he is disgusted since women are unclean. These men don't want to sleep with women that God has made unclean right? Of course they don't. So many men keep their "boy lovers" even after they are married.

I came across 3 major problems when i read this.
The first of course is rape, molestation, sex slaves, however you want to see it. Underage boys are being raped and molested because its a normal part of their society.

The second problem I came across was equal rights for women, which is also a huge part of their culture, but being a woman I find offensive that someone would say I'm "unclean" just because I'm a woman.

The third problem is that a man didn't even know how to get his wife pregnant, which obviously shows the lack of sex education.

I've been conducting a small survey at my school, well maybe I should call it an interview. I asked parents, students, and teachers their views on sex education.(hopefully video soon) Every single person agreed that comprehensive sex ed was the best choice and that abstience only is doing more harm than good, regaurdless of political view points. So I've come to realize that the whole comp. sex ed vs. abstience only situation has nothing to do with the average person's political stand point. Which makes me wonder why we still have no decent sex ed in Texas' public schools... Lets get it together and educate our youth.

First off, please watch this. It's probably the best commercial of all time.

Second, I held my TFN event last week! It went very well thanks to everyone who contributed. I had about 20 people show up, which is a good number for the size and political stand point of my town. We watched Abstience comes to Albuquerque and had a discussion period afterwards. Everybody at the event agreed that comprehensive sex ed was the best thing to teach kids. Sooo lets get on the ball Texas, we need this!

About a month ago my high school had a special guest speaker, Kenni Thomas, who was part of the Black Hawk Down operation. He spoke to us about his experience and his music career. The assembly was sponsered by our local Abstience Only group. The thing that really bothered me was that after Kenni Thomas got down after his very inspirational talk, a member of the Abstience Only group got up and basically told us that we could never be as successful as him if we had sex, so don't do it. Obviously not having sex is a good choice to make, but just because you do it doesn't make you a bad person and even if you do have sex and get pregnant that doesn't limit how successful you can be in your lifetime.

So why do schools allow for people to come in and say such things? Even more so at a school that has an extremely high pregnancy rate, and if there are so many girls pregnant, think of how many are having sex and just haven't got pregnant yet.

Schools shouldn't put such a bad name on sex and make it a shameful subject and rather teach us to protect ourselves instead of just saying don't do it.
