The essence of youth is energy directed towards change!
Why should young people volunteer?
Self – satisfaction after giving time, efforts and energy to be of service to the elderly and community at large.
Also the supervisor at your volunteer work station will allow the volunteer to submit their name as a reference when applying for jobs. And when completing those employment applications as it makes positive impressions to the interviewer when the application shows the potential employee was a youth volunteer.
Youth Volunteers are a ray of sunshine to our communities especially to our aging population.
Youth Volunteers are very important to our aging population. Old people brighten up and respond positively to the young ones, when a story is shared about a service volunteer project that has been carried out successfully within the country or in a foreign land.
We are already having exciting success with this programme in the western region.
E are adding up internship abroad programmes,as well as further travel options to our portfolio in an effort to further facilitate tourism in Kenya and the neighbouring countries so as to build on our solid platform of responsible travel opportunities.
We provide you with a single point of contact at each stage event.

Volunteer in Medical And  Health Care Provision.

The Project &Program Location: Kiaritha-ini Hospital Karatina Nyeri District.
There are two elements to this program - community and medical work. As part of the project, volunteers work in the local clinic situated on the outskirts of Karatina town in a small Village Kiari-thaini. The clinic provides services such as maternal & child health care, family health care, curative health care, primary health care, voluntary counselling and testing, plus introducing the training in health and HIV/AIDS awareness.
This volunteer program is designed to suite those volunteers who wish to assist in the health care giving mostly in small local community health care “Health Care Centers’ in Kenya.
Why the project needs you!
Kenya's health care and provision suffers as much as any other public service sector in the country. Whilst structures are in place for an effective health service, there is an enormous deficit in terms of staff and resources. This is why the volunteers' help is very much appreciated by the nurses and doctors we work with.
Health Care Volunteer program in Kenya manages health projects to medical students or professionals. Participating in a health care volunteer project opens tremendous opportunities for volunteers to experience new opportunities in their lives and careers, allow volunteers to immerse themselves in another culture, and provide a positive contribution to the community where health care volunteers are needed. Opportunities are available in a number of rural health centers in Kenya. Volunteers will provide health education, assist doctors, or help provide medical treatment to patients. While working on this project, volunteers will share knowledge, time, skills and talents with the health care staff of the centers.
Volunteers in the health care project will also engage in some of the vital activities of medical treatment such as dressing wounds, taking patients' histories, counseling patients, providing assurance and moral support to patients' families, and disbursing medicines. While working in this project you will become highly involved with the needs of the medical field, where each of the health centers get several patients in a day.
During your break off work, you can plan to explore the beauty of Nyeri district which partly host part of Mt Kenya south, the mt Kenya forest is about half hour drive from Kiartha-ini Hospital and you can enjoy your pleasant time off discovering the mountain, wildlife, caves, tea and coffee farms /factories as well as the many other adventure activities like bird watching in the forest.
Project Location,
The project is based 3 km north of Karatina Town in the central kenya highland where Tea ,coffee and other mixed agricultural farming are exercised are grown,There is a vast beautiful grounds about 500 meters from the health centre that are perfect for having an afternoon nap in the sun, playing sports, such as ultimate frisbee or soccer with a local soccer team, or going for a jog. Volunteer in a Nursery Programme.

We are a non profit organization helping economically challenged children in western Kenya, to help them realize their right to an education.

We are working with a team of overseas and local volunteers.
We have a holistic approach to supporting the wangusu community and offer assistance in education and economic development primarily, but we have also recently started a nursery programme.
We aim to run educational workshops with parents, and are keen to find volunteers who have a background in education for young children.
Any background in child psychology or social work would also be invaluable, as we want to talk to the parents about child development and improve their understanding of what young children need.
These children are young, so it is possible for volunteers to come who have a more limited English/Kiswahili ability as they will still be able to play with children and contribute to the lesson planning.
However, for the training sessions we will need someone who is a relatively a fluent English speaker, previous experience in working with children in developing and developed countries as they would be an asset, so that they are able to put across the relevant information and also answer questions that the parents or guardians have.

What is a Youth Hostel?
A Youth Hostel is a building which offers inexpensive accommodation to young people exploring their country or the world, it also provides a meeting place in which young people of different social back ground, opinion and nationality can meet and come to know each other.
Its function is educational in the widest sense of the world.

Why Youth Hostels.

Kenya Youth Hostels Association Hostelling International- kenya enable young people to know the countryside, cities, enjoy open air recreations of walking ,cycling, skiing etc and give them health and self reliance.Hostels are known as great places to meet other travelers like you,who are looking for Adventure but also want to save money. Our Hostel staff are known for giving advice about what to see, things to do and best places to eat!so be sure to ask about all the great restaurants, attractions, shopping malls etc.We are here to make your travels easier, safe and fun, plus make your travel budget work for you!

What is the meaning of Youth Hostels.

Hostels provide friendly, inexpensive overnight accommodations for travellers. Hostelling International hostels assure travellers the utmost in quality standards including cleanliness, security ,comfort and service.

Hostels offer dormitory-style rooms with separate quarters for men and women. Some hostels also have private family and couples rooms. All hostels provide a blanket and pillow. Linens are often included in the price, or available for rental in some hostels .

Most hostels offer fully equipped self-service kitchens or cafeterias, dining areas, secure storage and common rooms for relaxing and socializing with other travellers. Some hostels have laundry facilities, travel libraries and concierge service. There are a few that even have swimming pools, Our mission is "to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling." The mission is accomplished through our extensive network of hostels offering a wide-range of programs and activities.

A founder of the Youth Hostels Network Richard Shirmann said: "Every forest, every valley, every flower, every mountain, every village and every city are separate pages of your Motherland. You should read these pages in your own experience and not in books.

The Earth is huge. When you travel, you see the details, and this is the biggest joy on the planet. For this purpose we are now opening Youth Hostels.

However, you also need to travel outside your country, to meet your neighbours, to know them better and to appreciate those who speak other language and have different history. To do this, I am now calling upon you, our friends and neighbours, to open Youth Hostels and to do it for all young people on the Earth. They must become places of peace and comfort for the good of all humanity.

Trade mark "Youth Tourism & Hostels of Kenya" creates own youth hostels chain and cooperates with youth hostels in Kenya like tour operator, marketing adviser and activities coordinator. We offer to our clients Hostel Trips - tours which are based on accommodation in hostels.

Kenya Youth Hostels Association
Is a non-profit Membership organization, organized as a community service with a proud history and a relevant philosophy, which promotes youth
hostelling in Kenya and gives the opportunity to young Kenyans to travel around Kenya and abroad, because the membership card of international hostelling is valid worldwide. So if you have this card, you are accepted in all of those eighty countries and all of those youth hostels without any differences. We would like to see more Kenyan people travel around and use the infrastructure, because all countries are very well covered by youth hostels. Our main task is to promote youth tourism as something which
is not only for people who have a lot of money. We are here to help people
to travel more easily, quickly, safely and to find people of their age
around.

Objective.
The Association aims at developing a chain of hostels for use by its members, creating networks and affiliation with other hostel owners, collaborating with external hostels, investing in creating youth facilities such as campsites, recruiting more members and enabling its members to be part of the global village so as to enjoy tourist attractions, intercultural experiential living, sharing information and expanding personal horizons in life. The Association therefore promotes personal growth, welfare and domestic as well as international youth tourism.

Our Vision
The guiding dream of the International Youth Hostel Federation is to open the world to the youth. This vision emphasizes care and desire to enable young people to experience the world, its people, plants, animals, culture and to learn, recreate and enjoy life. The Kenya Youth Hostels Association is thus mandated to provide hostels, which have cheap, cost-effective, clean and quality accommodation and meals.

Our Mission
The Association promotes the appreciation, love and care of the countryside, wildlife, people, landscape and the general environment and provides for sensitization through travel, recreation, pursuit of knowledge and exchange of ideas among members and hostellers with limited means and resources. The Association undertakes to serve all youth and members of all races, color, creed and cultural background.
