After election day there are a mix of emotions. People are either happy the candidate of their choice was elected or bummed because he or she wasn't. But this election day, I felt a new emotion I have never felt before.
Walking into work, it seemed to be a normal day at the office. People running around, in a hurry of course because they have waited until the last day to do everything, and the phones ringing off the hook. I sit down at my desk and begin to sort through what I need to do for the day. When the hub-bub slowed, a lady at my office came up to my desk and asked me if I had voted yesterday. Of course my answer was yes and she was excited.
"Did the election turn out the way you wanted it to?"
She was trying to figure out where I stood politicaly; I already knew.
I responded, "No, not exactly."
Her response startled me and I was mad immediately.
"Well little girl... it looks like you need to change the way you think."
After I didn't say anything, she said, "Change is not the best thing."
I have nothing futher to say -- which was exactly my response to her.
