Sometimes when I'm reading through articles online, some of them cease to amaze me, especially when people are ignorant!

Buju Banton, Jamaican Reggae star, cannot understand why some gay groups are protesting his upcoming Miami concert.

Andrew Minott of Global Vybz Entertainment says that Buju Banton hasn’t even sung the song Boom Bye Bye in years, so homosexuals should not be complaining, according to The Miami Herald.

WOW!

Minott believes that these lyrics are part of the dancehall culture and should not be taken literally.

Well Minnott, if someone is singing a song about putting you on fire and shooting you in the head, let me know when you would be calm and collect!

According to the Miami Hearld, Buju Banton was charged with allegedly beating six men believed to be gay after forcing entry into a house in Kingston.  One of the victims lost his eye in the attack

In 2007, Banton supposedly signed the  "Compassionate Act" to quit singing hate songs against gays.

Many gay groups are protesting his upcoming concert. They believe he should not be able to perform in a city-owned venue.

These kind of stories make me cringe. Just because someone lives a different lifestyle does not give anyone the right to sing hate songs. First off, Mr. Banton, you are stupid. Do you not believe that groups would be scared, if you were accused of beating homosexuals previously?

Your songs are hideous and insensitive to the lifestyle of certain groups. You should be ashamed of yourself!

Remember, "If you don't have anything nice to say, Don't say it at all!" That includes singing Banton!

Check out the video for his song " Boom Bye Bye",  Promotes hate, Huh?

You might want to switch that to "lives a different lifestyle."

I'm not familiar with this Reggae band. They looks weird but I'm sos sure that they have fans. They seems that there's no tomorrow . Kenny Phillips, a safety for the New York Giants, just came off a barnstorming game on Sunday Night Football in which the Giants humiliated the pathetic excuse for a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Tony "Butter Fingers" Romo.  (Remember that game against the Seahawks?)  He intercepted Romo twice in the game.  Aaron Rouse has been picked up on waivers from the Green Bay Packers.  He has been placed on the injured reserve list for the time being.

I dont know how big of a deal this is. there are plenty of songs that support gay/ lesbian people.
I actually heard a comedian say, supporting gays,
" The difference between gay and straight couples is when they have a kid its on purpose"
I dont recall him getting protested for these comments.
Now yes they werent nice lyrics but they were his. People should be able to say what they want and be as creative as they want in the development of their music. Respect his rights even if you don't agree with him.
And this song is older why is this coming up now?

Fostering creativity and promoting free speech are definitely important.  But I think hate speech is all too often misconstrued as creativity or free speech.  If something is hateful and promotes violence against any one person or group of people, it is not ok.
