What can we learn from the cancellation of the prom at Constance McMillen’s Mississippi high school?
Constance rules!
This is why Congress has to pass the Student Non-Discrimination Act
Hope isn’t lost -- look how many folks stepped up to hold a non-discriminatory prom!
All of the above

December 1st, What was I doing?

Today is World AIDS Day and I felt really excited. I created a facebook event called, " Red Ribbon Your Profile Picture in Honor of Worlds AIDS Day" and I got a great response, over 30-40 people joined my group and Red Ribboned their profile picture. I posted videos, pictures, and information about Advocates for Youth and YWOCLC so that they could get informed about getting tested and about the work that we do. I also put a note on the group telling people to donate a dollar to organizations and charities that support AIDS/HIV Awareness.

Today was a great Day. I spoke to my class about AIDS/HIV and how important it is to get tested and know your status. I gave them information about where to get tested, the festivities that happening on campus for WAD, and I also let them ask questions. It was a great presentation and it seemed to be quite emotional because a number of students in my class ran out and got tested.

I wore Red Ribbon and green button that said, " Go Get Tested for HIV". Today was a special day for me because I went and supported the SHAPE organization on our campus. They had a big World AIDS Day celebration with testimonials, videos, food, information, and ribbons. I convinced 3 of my best friends to go get tested with me, Today was the first day that I have ever been tested for HIV. It was scary. I kept second guessing myself and asking what if questions in my head, but I had to be brave and I filled out the form to get tested. All of my friends were excited and nervous. We all got tested and felt really good about it. Because of our efforts, many students on campus came out in record numbers to get tested on World AIDS Day. It was pretty awesome. All the work I have done for YWOCLC and the work that SHAPE did on our campus as resulted in a lot of people knowing their status and being aware of one of the most deadly diseases in the country.

I celebrated World AIDS Day by bring awareness to those that are struggling with HIV/AIDS, those that have lost the fight, and the families that support AIDS/HIV patients. I also wore my red ribbon and button to work, many students asked questions and decided they would either give money to a charity or get tested.

World AIDS Day was amazing.
