The Thursday before last the Texas Youth Leadership Council with the Texas Freedom Network Student Chapter of the University of Texas at Austin held a sex education event on campus at UT Austin, which turned out to be a great success! With the help of hard working volunteers, we got 110 petition signatures on both the state petition for the Education Works Coalition and the federal petition for comprehensive sex education funding. We also collected written stories, supportive posters, and video stories about the state of sex education in Texas. We talked to hundreds of students from different parts of Texas, and some from across the country about their sex education experiences. The consensus was that abstinence only education doesn't work and its time for politicians to be realistic and stop endangering the lives of teens. Take a look at the video we put together from the event, sign the online petition, and let me know what your story was!

Good thing for the youth. They could anticipate with the horrible values of the society.  Well, for one, am not going to pay attention to any Alice in Wonderland review I see.  I don't care – I'm going to see it.  Granted, yes – the Tim Burton take on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was basically Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for kids.  Johnny Depp might just be starting to become for lack of a better phrase, meh.  Also, ticket prices are enough to practically send one running for payday loans.  That said, this Mia Waiskowska looks charming in the role, and Helena Bonham Carter is a wonderful actress, equally adept at being unhinged and contemplative.

 nice :)

I loved this video, everyone had such great things to say, and this event definitely sounded like a success.  GO TEXAS!  (well, only the cool youth activists who say things like "time for politicians to stop endangering the lives of teens," not the crazy far right people who support those politicians. xD)

Great video!  I loved hearing all the different student perspectives on their sex education.  And I'm so impressed that a young woman shared that she was treated for an STI.  That can be hard to claim, especially on camera, but it provides such a service to the de-stigmatization efforts.
