Happy December!
Also this month is AIDS Awareness month, so be sure to wear red that week! Being AIDS awareness month and having my condoms arrive gave me the idea to focus on safe sex this month as a bulletin board and with my program. My bulletin board has sparked so much conversation which really makes me feel awesome! My program will come in about two weeks, its called "Sex in an Envelope" I'll have more details in a later post.. I hope to give away a large amount of condoms at my program!
So this week I have been passing out condoms like crazy!
Most people in my hall know I have them so they have been knocking on my door and taking them. Unfortunately I know that students would only use them to play pranks if I were to leave some outside of my door, but I'm usually around and all of the RAs in my building have plenty so if I'm not around, someone else is!
Program proposals & bulletin boards are due this week for December. I am doing a Safe Sex ABCs bulletin board, and a really neat program about safe sex. My bulletin board is going to have my name and room number just in case anyone doesn't know that I have condoms they will know after reading my board!! My program will be in my hall's lobby & I'll include a picture of my board and an update on my program next week. I have to stay here through Thanksgiving so I'll have plenty of time to do my board & figure out my program!

My condoms arrived!! :)
Today while I was about to go grocery shopping as I passed my front desk, the FDM Joey stopped me and told me I had a package. Knowing fully well what was in that package I grabbed it from him screeching in excitement and ran upstairs to my room in excitement. On the way a resident saw me and she decided to follow me to see what it was all about. The picture above is what I saw as soon as I opened the box!
In my excitement I put a condom in all of the RAs mailboxes and was later called "the condom fairy" for it. A few of my reisdents were around when I got the box so I gave some to them as well. I haven't passed out many but I did give a handful to a resident down the hall who has a boyfriend and has mentioned that they have had unprotected sex a few times because sometimes they forget to buy them or just don't have the money for condoms that week. I told her to keep them just in case for backup and not to just use mine as thier primary source.
I had a lot of fun handing them out randomly and telling the story about all of this but I know that I need to get on the ball with a december program.. not exactly sure what I'm going to do yet, but I want it to involve sex-ed so I think I am going to ask the health education center here on campus about something that could potentially involve condoms & holidays.
For now, its time to sleep because this is the 2nd time I had to write this because in my stupidity I pressed the X instead of minimize earlier.
