Maybe a week or two ago Rihanna released her video for her song titled S&M. if you don’t know, S&M refers to Sadism and Masochism: Sadism- pleasure inflicting pain on other during sexual acts; Masochism- pleasure receiving pain during sexual acts.
Now the video has been banned, last time I heard in 11 countries and after I watched it online right after it had been released I figured it would be. But in all honesty seeing a woman of color do a video like this and make a song like this in my opinion is good. Talking about sex in this way in the black community is kind of taboo, I mean “chains and whips excite me,” that’s something not too many women will tell to their closest girlfriends in conversation about sex. But Rihanna as well as Keri Hilson have taken it upon themselves to make songs and racy videos that basically say, you know what this is what I like, how I like it and I just need you to comply. And I think for women of color that’s good. I think we should be able to express exactly what we want without feeling some way about it. If chains and whips excite you then so be it.

Idk... I had a completely different reaction to Keri's vid. I like the lyrics and the story but the dancing scene is overkill... I get she's trying to be sexy but there's a better way to do it. Looks cheap and thirsty for attention...

I don't think that Rihanna's song should be banned. I can see why some networks would want to  restrict playing it only during late-night hours, but banning it punishes Rihanna for something that isn't bad. I don't see anything wrong with a woman admitting that she likes sex or the smell of sex or using whips and chains during sex. If that's what she likes, then that's what she should ask for! If it makes people uncomfortable to hear a woman ask for those things, why aren't they getting as upset when men sing about sex and about using women as sex objects. I didn't see Rihanna's song as objectifying- she was taking charge of her pleasure, even if she gets her pleasure by giving up some control.

Keri Hilson's song, however, I did not see as a song or video about female sexual power. She wasn't shaking her body for her own pleasure- it was all for a male audience.
