Wow condoms go fast here at Stetson University and it has been great being able to provide students with protection that they may not get or use otherwise. In the Hollis Center we have a bowl of condoms that we refill, now bi-weekly, so that students can grab a free condom with out being to conspicuous, since the bowl is kept in a semi-private room. This has become one of Stetsons students’ most popular ways to get protection for their fun filled week/weekend. The bowl is ALWAYS empty after “big” nights out here, which occur on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and for the party-minded, Wednesday as well. We also have a condom vending machine in one of the dorms so that when the Hollis Center is closed students can get a condom for a mere 50 cents, especially on weekend nights when campus buildings are deserted and nothing is open.
The health and wellness interns just recently put on a health hut entitled, “Everything Your Parents Didn’t Tell You About Sex”, where we gave out condoms to students who wanted to talk, or just to those passing by. Although the topic may have been uncomfortable for some, students were excited to get their condoms to barricade sperm from going to war on an unexpected ovary and to obstruct the transmission of STI’s. Students also know that they are always welcome to walk into the office and get a couple of condoms.
Being prepared is key and you must always wrap it before you tap it.
