Very, very good insight! A lot of times I find myself asking myself the same question - why do I care about these topics?? I'm a heterosexual, white, upper middle class, educated, HIV negative person who has never had an abortion or a pregnancy scare - why do I care? Then I reflect back & come to a similar conclusion - there are so many unjust aspects of our political enviornment & it's simply not okay. It is not okay that we tell someone that they are less of an American because of who they love. It is not okay that women are denied access to life saving health care. It is not okay that religious messages about sex are being taught in our public schools. It is simply not okay, and this is why we are activists (:
