The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), which is the overarching committee for the UU church, put this video out this week in response to Prop 8 passing.
That's right, a church. This is why I feel that the religous argument against gay marriage is completely moot. If they say we're not respecting their rights to deny gay marriage, they are clearly denying UUs of their rights of having all types of marriage. This is why gay marriage should be legal so people can make their own decisions on whether or not to have one. Church and state are separated for a reason, isn't that why we started the US in the first place?
I heard that Proposition 8 is the first time in American history that a popular vote has voted to take rights away from people. We need to stand up and fight to protect gay marriage not only in California, but in the states where it isn't even legal yet!
One more video for you. I saw this beat poem online a few days ago, and it's been sticking in my head.
Let's find our revolution and keep fighting.
