This is so exciting!
As all of you should know by now, California has been waiting for a verdict by the state's Supreme Court since March on the constitutionality of Proposition 8, a controversial law that was voted on by the people on November 4th in order to ban same-sex marriage in California. On November 4th, equal opportunity rights were taken away from the minority by the majority. Prop 8 represents the hatred and misunderstanding towards the LGBT community that permeates the world. If Prop 8 is deemed unconstitutional by the California Supreme Court, thousands of people will be recognized as respected, law-abiding citizens who deserve to be protected under the law. Marriage and government recognition is so important to millions of people, yet organizations like the National Organization for Marriage don't seem to understand that homosexuals are as human as they are and same-sex couples are as loving and devoted and compassionate has opposite-sex couples. I hope with all my heart that the Supreme Court overturns Prop 8. I want to prove to my peers that the "storm" is coming and it will not be silenced! If Prop 8 passes, I predict that many other states will look at us and see that the need for change in our country is absolutely necessary, right now! Mark your calendars because whether or not Prop 8 is upheld, we are gathering all across California in love and solidarity to demonstrate our never-ending struggle for peace and love all across the world.
