As the end of the school year approaches people are swamped with end of the year work. Which has been my situation as well. I haven't had a chance to post in a while so now that I finally have a break I wanted to discuss the mini milestones the past few months have brought me with condom distribution.
February was a very good month with condom distribution. At the time we were hiring for new community advisors on campus and I was the mentor for two prospective CAs. They decided to hold a program for Valentine's Day to make valentines etc and as an incentive to come to the program they advertised FREE CONDOMS. I was able to distribute PLENTY of condoms through this program.
Also, I had a friend who was also going through the process trying to become a community advisor. He held a program on sex education. He gave his audience shocking sex facts and attendees were shown the proper way to put on a condom. We were able to distribute a lot of condoms with this event as well.
Along with all the programs I made a new bulletin board on my floor to remind residents that I was a safe site for Trojan. Many of my new residents came to me asking for condoms and told their friends as well.
At the beginning of March I had a conversation with one of my friends who works in our student union and I asked him if I would be able to put some free condoms amongst the other free things given away in his office. He told me he thought it would be a great idea so I put some in his office that afternoon. He informed me the next day that ALL of the condoms were gone. I plan on putting some more condoms in his office very soon.
With the year coming to a close very rapidly I am going to give one last round of condoms to other CAs in my build and tell them encourage residents to come and see me for more. I also plan on place a bowl at our front desk and other front desks nearby to distribute the last of my condoms....
It's a bitter sweet feeling but I know that I did my job!
