Hi guys this is my first blog. I've decided to write about a topic very close to my heart. As a half Cherokee and half Irish youth I consider myself an racial minority. I'm a resident of Oklahoma so I've grown up very closely to my Native American heritage. Growing up in Native Oklahoma I noticed something.  There are not many culturally competant programs for ethnic and racial minorities!
This includes African American, Hispanic, and Native Americans. While its true the Native Americans are better off than other minorities, I feel clinics are still not approaching us in the right way meaning they do not respect or traditional values and heritage. Which in turn makes it more difficult for minorities to go to clinics for their safe sex needs.
statistically there has been an increase in the last 5 years in the spread of :

Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and  Syphilis!

When doctors and nurses treat us an just another race and disregard our religious, traditional, and personal values we feel like cows hered into an office with a number stamped on our ears. I would love to hears everyones thoughts, opinions and concerns on the matter.
