This year has been an exciting year and a step in the right direction for the students on Morehouse College campus. As DEEP reps (Diversity Education and Enrichment Program) through Morehouse College housing and residential life program, we have been able to distribute almost a 1,000 condoms with educational literature. It has been an almost experience with knocks on our doors at all hours of the night. We have also been able to add more truth to the word on the street. It was shocking to me that the education of most people about sex on campus was not accurate. The stories of many brothers on campus initially surprised me but then it soon didn’t because that was the reason we were educated. We were educated to educate others and that is a powerful statement. It has become very visible to me and others that most people are educated about SEX in the streets. So we went to them by partnering with our Student Government Association to educate at a nightly jazz night. This was not just a normal tabling because we also grabbed the microphone to educate some persons on the facts. The listeners were very surprised of our facts and we received a lot of positive feedback from the event. I rather be called a condom guy any day to educate and provide protection from sexually transmitted diseases.
