Hi every one how is everything? This is my first time to blog in this web page. My name is Meron Girma am from Ethiopia I am working in youth led organization as program coordinator for the youth RH and HIV/AIDS programs. I often visit this web sit and I find it very interesting there fore I decided to participate.

I want to share with you the issue of youth friendly RH service in health centers. Youth vulnerability to HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia is one way or the other way related with the gap in the provision of youth friendly reproductive health service. The reproductive health service include Contraception and family planning services, Prevention, testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, Post-abortion care, Safe abortion, where permitted by law; and Accurate sexuality education that includes information and skills development to delay sexual relations, have healthy sexual activity and practice respect for individuals’ rightsthe provision of information (information like STIs, different contraceptives, family planning, etc)

Personally I have had the chance to visit and asses the service which is provided in the governmental health centers with regard to the above RH service. I conducted the assessment in the near by health center which is regarded as a partner for our organization in the day to day activities which are related with the youth RH activities.

The objective of the visit was to asses the RH services provision and to check either it is youth friendly or not. For the purpose of the assessment I have different questioners which I used it as I guide line. Generally the health center is too large it provides different services to the community in fair price. However the RH service is almost ignored in the health center. The rooms which is given are too small comparing for with other services, the person which are assigned are not youth at all or at least they should be those who have experience in working with youth activities, the facilities are almost non for example they toled me they provide VCT service but there is no separate room for counseling the client which is mandatory activity the other is they also told me that they provide legal abortion but there is no focal person which is assigned in the place and no equipments. This and other related issues make the RH service invisible to the youth. So where can the youth get RH service? As I have mentioned earlier the health centers are the only place where the society gets health related services in a fair price. For the youth if the RH service is not provided properly, where can they get this service? Those youth who use the service might be in school youths who are either in secondary schools or universities. Is it fair for these students to get the service in private health centers?
