Each week, I’ll be posting a list of the most news-worthy and/or inspirational, informative, well-written, thought-provoking, and/or unique posts of the week. While every post and every contributor is valuable to our community, these are the blogs that I feel are must-reads.

May 2- May 8

SoulForce at Baylor- by Stan_TFN

Why I chose this post:

Stan, a student at Baylor University, writes about his experience of the SoulForce Equality Riders visiting his school. SoulForce is a great organization that, once a year, travels to conservative campuses, advocating for their LGBTQ communities. Since I first learned about them, I’ve wondered what it was like for the students at these universities after the Equality Riders leave. Now I’ve got a great answer!

A Solution To The Catholic Church Sex Abuse Scandal- by dandaman6007

What I chose this post:

This is a thorough look at the sex abuse scandal being faced by the Catholic Church. Dan calls for the Catholic Church to be held accountable for its crimes and for abetting crimes against youth. He says that it is our responsibility to make sure that they don’t continue to get away with committing and permitting sexual abuse.

American Academy of Pediatrics Endorses “female genital cutting”: First, do no harm?- by kirbygirl87

Why I chose this post:

It astounds me that an organization like the American Academy of Pediatrics would even consider something like this. They say that it is to prevent parents going to extremes, but how is FGM ever not extreme? Take a look, and share your thoughts.

Thank you to everyone who posted a blog this week! You are part of what makes this community great!

~ Samantha
