After speaking with a lot of my friends who are high school age and above, they have informed me of their lack of knowledge in the areas of safer sex and comprehensive sex education. Most of them chose the abstinence route because it was rooted in them at an earlier age and embedded in the brains during school as the only sure way to be safe. But for the remainder of friends who have become sexually active, they have been through the events of pregnancy scares and trips to the “God Forsaken” Clinics. ;[
I spoke with one friend in particular about her sexual education, or should I say abstinence training, and she revealed to me an interesting (to say the least) analogy. THAT HER VAGINA WAS LIKEA LOLIPOP!!!!! I know there are male rappers that have depicted their reproductive organs as such, but never before had I heard this comparison. The teacher from East Jesus No Where, Ohio (as the student quoted) was instilling in these young girls that their reproductive organ was an unwrapped lollipop, and once you engage in sexual intercourse you have allowed your partner to unwrap your lollipop and now you were dirty. Since you had sex before marriage YOU ARE DIRTY!! And you’re lollipop is no longer good.
This was outrageous to me. So I asked, “Later on in your schooling did you ever receive any follow up education about sex?” And she replied, “No.” Everything else she’s learned has come from friends and television, no parental conversations really and no “responsible” adults there to show her the facts. She’s left with the tainted realization that her vagina is a lollipop. Poor Girl.
In simple terms, Have sex before your married, and the rest of your sex life is doomed.
I swear if I have to sit through another Sex Ed. like that, I will stand up and start teaching.

Your doing a great thing by getting your voice heard, you have no idea how many people can be influenced just by one blog and/or one comment addressing safe sexual practices and rights that we all, as teens, deserve.
This is our future we are dealing with and that is enough of a reason to fight for a better foundation for our education and the knoweledge to help us make the right descions in our lives.
Keep your voice heard and speak up in the crowd you will make a difference.
Post your blog on myspace, facebook, twitter, g-capp.org..everywhere.
Thanks,
