I know I have posted previously on feminism and its tendency to be misconstrued as a gaggle of angry man-hating women with unshaven armpits and hairy legs, who determinedly do away with anything remotely feminine. In that post, I also discussed the possibility that men could be feminists as well, since feminism should be a predominant, recurrent way of thinking rather than a political movement. Youtube user ‘Battlefield315’ does not share my sentiments. And since the idea is to pull stupid arguments and stereotypes out of the air, I would like to describe Battlefield as an individual who seems to be a troll-like conservative with very juvenile ideas for making ‘liberals’ look stupid. Here’s the manifesto on Battlefield’s website:
Ooooh liberals! Scary scary people with unorthodox ways and sinister plans to take over the world.
There are a bunch of videos on the site expressing Battlefield’s fish-eyed view of the state of the nation. Gay marriage, the Tea Party, gun control, socialism etc. Battlefield’s wealth of knowledge has provided the public with renditions of the liberal’s perspective. After all, it makes sooooo much sense that the only person who would know so much about a liberal’s modus operandi would be a non-liberal. Battlefield’s a genius! Of course the liberal is portrayed as a woman. Because men are the ones with all the right answers right? More annoyingly, even when the issues being debated have absolutely nothing to do with them.
The video explaining a liberal’s point of view is nothing short of stupid. A monkey could have thought this up. It’s so very apparent that all Battlefield is attempting to do is discredit liberals. The video starts off with the liberal admonishing the conservative for rejoicing over Bin Laden’s death because it’s wrong to be happy about the death of any human being. It all goes downhill after that. The man counters with news about Cheney’s death and points out that the liberal is happy about that death. There’s some rambling about communists and then the liberal states that Bin Laden’s death has a silver lining because it should automatically guarantee Obama’s reelection. After being told that Obama’s approval ratings weren’t all that great, the liberal plays the race card, calling everyone who doesn’t support Obama a racist. “If a white man had killed Bin Laden he’d be a hero.” *facepalm*
Enough with that nonsense.
When I initially watched the video with a few other interns, we were kind of confused about the video’s intent but quickly came to the general consensus that it was just garbage. This video goes way past the usual stereotypical nonsense, claiming amongst other things, that all feminists want to do is fill their pockets with donated funds, while simultaneously oozing self-righteousness. It damns other women as ignorant because they don’t vote the right way; claims feminism advocates for women because they need to change by becoming less feminine and working outside the home. “...making money should be the top priority so that they can give to feminist organizations.” And then there’s the part where the man asks what makes feminists different from any other democrats and the liberal says, “We say the word patriarchy” Wow! Can you say ULTIMATE. EPIC. FAIL? I can’t even be mad at Battlefield because it’s clear that he or she missed the bus on this one.
Elsewhere in the land of sex-tapes, ill-gotten fame and pole-dancing teenagers, Kim Kardashian discovered she has psoriasis, and Bruce Jenner lost it when he picked up a prescription for his daughter Kendall, and opened it find birth control. *GASP!* Yes because in BruceJennerland, when you pay for stuff for your kids, it gives you the right to disregard privacy. After he’s had his 15 minutes of drama, he calls Kris, who is unavailable, and then Khloe. “There’s no way she’s having sex!” Khloe says something that can only be described as ‘garnished with a touch of the smarticles’. “Rather than assuming that she’s not having sex, you should assume that she is.” Now you see why the smarticles were only a garnish. Parents, if you think your kids are having sex, they probably are. Thus says Khloe Kardashian.
Bruce goes home to confront Kris who tells him that the birth control is for Kendall’s cramps, but that he should have the ‘birds and the bees’ talk with the girls. He’s very reluctant and instead recruits Khloe for the job. Khloe actually wants to talk to the twins but Bruce asks her not to. She goes about it the sneaky way as per his request, and works up the ladder, asking questions about kissing boys with tongue and so on. It’s surprising to see that the girls actually don’t know much about sex. When Bruce eventually does say something for sex after being shoved into speaking to the twins, his first comment is about “popping cherries”. Really Bruce? What are you, 13?
I want to be snarky by saying that the twins should know a lot about sex since they have Kim for a sister, but the truth is it’s more important to highlight the fact that a lack of information about sex goes across the board. Rich kids can be sexually unaware too. In the end, Khloe proves to be the most straightforward adult around the twins, redeeming herself from her earlier comments by expressing her opinion that the girls should be told things instead of experimenting to find out.
I can't believe that Battlefield315 video has been watched over 120,000 times. I would say that feminists should band together and dislike the video on YouTube, but that would be a waste of time. This guy is a troll, pure and simple.
