The Real World: Las Vegas just gets more and more interesting. I’m thinking seriously about keeping up with it until the end of the season. I’m not a big fan of reality shows but we’ll see. This week’s episode featured two major events: an STD/pregnancy scare and a girl-on-girl hookup/make-out session. I’m really glad about the way the STD issue played out.
For those of you who don’t watch, two of the cast members — Leroy and Naomi — are friends with benefits. Concerns were voiced about the probability of Naomi having an STD and being pregnant. She was scared, he was scared. They both regretted having unprotected sex. Leroy was a bit childish at first, concentrating on making it known that Naomi was the first girl he’d ever had sex with without protection. They were both pissed; him for being less responsible about his sexual health since he’d been on the show; her because Leroy wasn’t being supportive. Long story short, she made an appointment at a women’s clinic, got tested, the results came out and she tested negative on everything.
The part I was really glad about came at the end of everything. She told him she was baby and STD free, he insisted on getting tested even though she’d been declared ‘clean’. And then they both made comments about how important it was to always use protection and how they’d never be that careless about it ever again. Simple and open; no immature circumvention of the issue. Leroy also mentioned that if he’d found out that he might have an STD, he would have called all of his former sexual partners to warn them. You go Leroy! You’ve earned a gold star in my book.
On to the next.
Last week, during the montage advertising the next week’s episode, there was a clip featuring Nany and Heather in some serious lip-lockage. My first thought was that it was just another stunt to get higher ratings but I had to get my facts straight first. The memory of Natalie Portman’s comment about her sex scene with Mila Kunis is still very fresh in my memory. Actually, I feel like that was never properly addressed. In Portman’s opinion, the best way to get guys to see a ‘girly’ movie like Black Swan is to insert a girl-on-girl sex scene – every man’s fantasy yeah? Forget the mental rollercoaster and the creative genius behind the illusion-fueled plot; it’s all about two females getting ‘nekkid.' Here are her exact words:
I’m surprised GLAAD didn’t get on her case."Everyone was so worried about who was going to want to see this movie. I remember them being like, 'How do you get guys to a ballet movie? How do you get girls to a thriller? The answer is a lesbian scene. Everyone wants to see that."
I found the comment about non-judgment really interesting since last week he’d had some pretty interesting things to say to and about Dustin. A dude had sex or whatever with other dudes in the past and it’s gross, but two female cast members make out/have sex and it’s so goshdarn awesome. Double standard much? Even Cooke had something to say about it, voicing her opinions to Mike about how hypocritical it was for Heather to reject Dustin for having sex(?) with a guy, and then doing the exact same. Dustin for one, was ecstatic that Heather had hooked up with Nany because it now made her the same as him, especially since she’d expressed shame and regret over it all.“This is the hottest thing I have ever seen. Ever...That was hot! I’m serious! I’m not judging you” - Mike
Hilarious! I love it!“We’re in the same boat together and we’re riding on the sea”
