I’ll start this blog by saying: This article is mind-boggling.

• Public school systems and the organizations that back them insist on abstinence-only sex education. This almost ensures that teens don’t have the knowledge or understanding to take control of their sexual health.
• Current legislation and funding cuts make it hard for young and/or low-income individuals to obtain contraceptives. It’s even harder to obtain an abortion, and harder still to find someone qualified enough to administer a safe abortion.

Basically, teen girls aren’t given the proper knowledge or resources to make the best decisions for their sexual health and prevent unwanted pregnancies. That in itself is a great injustice. But there’s more: teen girls who choose to have babies are still treated harshly. What do you have to do to make the Michigan government happy?! These girls did what pro-life groups wished, but these same individuals see fit to close a school that assist the pregnant and mothering? I understand that many political groups want to promote fiscal responsibility and moral accountability, but it blows my mind that the current system sets young girls up for failure and continues to punish them.
