Now, back in my turbulent teenage years, I was a fan of hard rock/heavy metal (still am to some degree), but this just spooks me out.

Meet Bradlee Dean, frontman for the You Can Run But You Can't Hide Ministries. This ministry has had many connections with the Minnesota Republican Party, including Michelle Bachmann (aka Sarah Palin 2.0). One of the main parts of this ministry is a hard rock band, Junkyard Prophet (their crappy music you can access here), which mixes the type of music that used to be accused of being satanic with Christian evangelism. This ministry tours public schools in the midwest under false pretenses, and tries to convert school children to their virulent strain of Christianity.

Here's the statement in question:

“Muslims are calling for the executions of homosexuals in America. This just shows you they themselves are upholding the laws that are even in the Bible of the Judeo-Christian God, but they seem to be more moral than even the American Christians do, because these people are livid about enforcing their laws. They know homosexuality is an abomination.”

“If America won’t enforce the laws, God will raise up a foreign enemy to do just that. That is what you are seeing in America.”

“The bottom line is this… they [homosexuals] play the victim when they are, in fact, the predator. On average, they molest 117 people before they’re found out. How many kids have been destroyed, how many adults have been destroyed because of crimes against nature?”
There are no words...but as a survivor of sexual abuse, his linking of homosexuality to sexual assault is just plain offensive and wrong, plus any reputable social scientist worth their SALT would debunk that theory.

And what's worse is that Minnesota GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer has received donations from them and actually considers them "nice people"
“These are nice people. Are we going to agree on everything? No….I really appreciate their passion and you know what I respect their point of view,” he said. “I respect their right to have whatever view. That’s what makes it a great country. You don’t have to agree with it.”
Well, I'm sure some people found Hitler nice, but that shouldn't erase the prejudice and genocide incurred under his regime (and before you accuse me of trivializing the Holocaust, remember that Hitler, like these countries that Mr. Dean considers "moral", targetted LGBTIQ people as well). Those who remain silent in the face of genocide are guilty as well.

I leave you with this quote attributed to Pastor Martin Niemoller:
When Hitler came for the Jews... I was not a Jew, therefore, I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the Catholics, I was not a Catholic, and therefore, I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the unions and the industrialists, I was not a member of the unions and I was not concerned. Then, Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church — and there was nobody left to be concerned.
