This weekend i participated in my annual trainning in atlanta with G-CAPP/G-YUPP. In this training there was a lot of useful information where we were better informed about comprehensive sex education. It really got me thinking to how when i was in high school i really didn't recieve any sex ed. The closest they got to sex ed was "good touch bad touch" .

So in the training we had Lonnie King (who is a civil rights leader) come and speak to us about how it was for him growing up. His lecture was very inpirational. He talked about when he was a little boy how he was mistreated but he still made it into something positive he joined the Navy, then went to Morehouse College and made something out of himself who is getting his doctorate in history.

Also we had another gentleman by the name of James Andrews, he talked about how fast technology is moving and how we need to be up to date with it. One of his focuses was how we can network with other organizations that are out there. Aside from the two speakers we worked on team building excerises leadership roles, there is just soooo much that we got out of this weekend.  The correct use of condoms, how to say no and actually mean it, and communication all of these things can help us if we actually choose to par take in sexual activity.

I really enjoyed the social media part of the training since i'm always online and on Facebook. Now when i'm online like i always am i can use it too blog and get people's veiws i also can use it to educate my peers on several subjects such as teen pregancy and HIV/AIDS prevention.

This weekend had a GREAT impact on my life and i can't wait until the next time my co-workers and i get together to do it again, just because this weekend came to an end doesn't mean i stop advocating until next time we get together. I love to advocate for teen pregancy prevention and HIV/AIDS its a hard job but i love to do it.
