The information that youth have about HIV/AIDS has to be given much consideration. Most boys are usually telling us they have enough knowledge about the use of condoms and many of them are confident they can use condoms properly. But the reality which we are currently observing in our community is completely different. Most of them usually have sexual intercourse with their opposite sex partner for the first couple of months using condoms, and then they completely give up using condoms because they believe that they are free from HIV/Aids and other sexually transmitted diseases. They think that they know each other very well and there is no longer the need to use condoms.

I had an interview with some boys and girls to learn the reason why they overlook using condoms after some period of time having sexual intercourse. Most of the interviewees confidently replied that the time they spent with their friends helped them to know and love each other very well and they consider the time is enough to be familiar with each other so it is not necessary for them to use condom.

Most young people who are ready for sexual intercourse make use of condoma not to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases, rather they use it only for the period of getting to know each other.

Recently, research was conducted by DKT ETHIOPIA in collaboration with THE FEDERAL HIV/AIDS PREVENTION AND CONTROLLING OFFICE. The research depicted that most of the commercial sex workers between the ages of 20-22 are efficiently using condoms compared with the other segment of societies. They make use of condoms much more to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. They earn their living by having sex with different people, but they also have a client who loves them very much and they usually have sex with out condom with their clients. 62% of commercial sex workers who have clients believed that making sex with out condoms is safe because they feel that they trust their clients.

The most important and curtail thing that everybody should know is the importance of condoms. If people are using condoms properly, it is possible to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted disease and unwanted pregnancies.

These days, most young people are spending their spare time in a café with their beloved friends, to have a chat or discussion about their life and other issues. Recently some popular youths have started condom cafe in our country, these cafés have tried to create awareness how to use condom and how we make safe sex etc. This is a good beginning to promote condoms and to provide reliable information about Aids. 

Hard facts about Women

      - Women are more vulnerable and exposed to HIV /AIDS than men.
- Most girls are starting sexual intercourse to that of experienced and old aged person. Men are forcing them to make love with out their interest.
- Men harassed women sexually and they forced them to loose their capability and decision power whether using condom or not. The decision is completely made by men with out the consent of women.
- In   21^st century the problem of raping women still exists in different parts of the world and girls are reaped by men in different situation.

The following are some points where men have to follow and respect

to reduce sexual harassment

    - Don’t use your power to express your idea, explain yourself peacefully what you want to say, what you’re felling and also develop your speaking skill as a respected person.
- Try to take an initiative to prevent and fight sexual harassment and back ward cultural practices that are applicable in your country.
- Be the first in the issues of women and stand on the side of organizations which are actively implementing the well being of women with respect to sexual matters.
- Respect girls, women and protect them from sexual harassment and prevent your self from such kind of persecution.
- There is a saying ‘men are cruel’ to change this word show your commitment to respect the right of women by joining the fight against sexual harassment in your country.
