The battle for comprehensive sex education is happening both federally and locally — in your communities, your campuses, your homes. During this election year, registering, educating and turning out voters is vital to winning comprehensive sex education. Newly elected state and local level decision makers will have a substantial impact on whether youth in your state get the education we deserve. Remember that the decision to accept or reject federal money that would support the failed Title V Abstinence-Only Program lies in the hands of each state’s governor.

Through the Sex[+] Voter Engagement Campaign, this fall, Choice USA chapters and members will be registering, educating and turning our young voters across the country. Check out the resources below to get involved!

Ready to start a Sex[+] Voter Engagement campaign on your campus? View our Sex[+] Voter Engagement Handbook here.

We are sad and thrilled to announce that at the beginning of October, Choice USA Field Director Edith Sargon will assume the role of Program Officer for Education at United Way of Greater Los Angeles. We are seeking an experienced, creative Field Director who is passionate about reproductive justice and community organizing - please help us spread the word!  For more information, please click here or visit www.choiceusa.org.

The Field Director builds relations with organizational allies and partners, identifies emerging leaders, and ensures the smooth and continuous execution of field operations.  Key responsibilities include: planning field campaigns, developing and editing training curricula; budgeting; managing staff; and representing Choice USA at conferences and coalitions.

Choice USA engages young people in creating and leading the way to sexual and reproductive justice for all.  We envision a world where all people have agency over their own bodies and relationships and the power, knowledge and tools to exercise that agency.  Working with young people ages 15-30, Choice USA provides training, field mobilization and national leadership to move policy, systemic and cultural change—and win real victories for campuses and communities!

If you or anyone you know is interested in continuing the legacy of excellent Choice USA field directors, applications will be accepted through September 6, 2010.
