This is the year to move, to go ahead and fight because youths are at a greater risk of sexually transmitted infections, unsafe abortion, HIV/AIDS and drug abuse. Nigeria is a country faced with a lot of challenges partaining to these issues or is it the fact that teenage girls are not adequately informed about the risk and dangers of sex and sexually transmited infections.
For an avarage Nigerian youth it difficult to discuss such issues as sex with their parents friends and relatives. What about the so called youth friendly centres meant for this purpose, these youth friendly centers as we discovered from an interview carried out resently are not youth friendly at all as they lack adequate facilities and well trained personnels for the purposes they are meant for. Some youths interviewed even complained about the fact that the personnels are too old so are not sure of the confidentiality of their discussion. They requested for younger persnnels as they will have a better ropport with these younger personnels.
Drug abuse, another critical issue affecting the youths in left lacking in many areas as there are no adequate rehabilitation centres. And with hardly any treatmeant for these drug dependent youth they are left with no other option than to continue to resort to the drug use.
In Nigeria drastic measures have to be taken in respect to these challenges, establishment of adequate youth friendly centres being one f them. But who will stand for us, who will stand for youths frustrated and alone in their sex and drug issues. I tell you it is nobody but you and I because every move you make helps you reduce your odds, so do something, get started today.
This is the day for you to move for your health. It is your health, it is your right.
MOVE TO IT. . . . . . . . .
