What can we learn from the cancellation of the prom at Constance McMillen’s Mississippi high school?
Constance rules!
This is why Congress has to pass the Student Non-Discrimination Act
Hope isn’t lost -- look how many folks stepped up to hold a non-discriminatory prom!
All of the above

On behalf of the member organizations of the University Coalitions for Global Health, I'd like to invite you to take part in the 2009 Global Health Week of Action, March 30 - April 3!  There's still two weeks to plan an event to raise awareness and motivate action in your community!

More info after the jump.

With a new administration and new Congress in the United States, there has never been a greater opportunity for youth voices to remind their policymakers of their commitment to the right to health for all people.  Young people demanded change in this past election and we must ensure that this change extends beyond our borders.

The Global Health Week of Action consists of five days of action, each focused on a specific issue.  The issues are:

  • access to essential medicines
  • health care workers
  • HIV and AIDS
  • sexual and reproductive health
  • human rights
Download the toolkit to get started!  It includes suggested activities, tips on student organizing, and links to an array of web resources.

In solidarity,

Advocates for Youth, Physicians for Human Rights, American Medical Student Association, Student Global AIDS Campaign, Americans for Informed Democracy, Student Partnerships Worldwide, GlobeMed, and Universities Allied for Essential Medicines
