A good friend is an assistant principal at a upper middle class DFW area high school.  The high school has 2000-3000 students.  140-something girls are pregnant.  These are 14-18 year old young ladies.  When I expressed my shock, he was amused.  He was surprised I didn't know the pregnancy rate for high school aged kids.  He said, "It's the number nobody wants to talk about." At 2000 students, half are women, so that makes the pregnancy rate 14%. At 2500 students, half are women, so that makes the pregnancy rate 11%. Do all of the young ladies carry the baby to term?  No. Is Abstinence Education working? Hell no and you cannot use payday loans as a way to sustain the life of the baby. If the Christian Right wants to cut down on abortions, they might want to consider age appropriate Sex Education for middle school and high school teens.
