Amplify’s front page is taking a break over the holiday weekend. In the meantime, don’t forget to visit The Hanger Project and send congress a message they can’t ignore.

Stupak - Aberration or Power Outage in the Pro-Choice Movement? – (By Advocates for Youth President James Wagoner) How does a pro-choice President and pro-choice House leadership end up moving a bill that seriously undermines a woman’s legal right to abortion? Has the political arm of the pro-choice movement been so co-opted by the Democratic Party that the pro-choice constituency is not just being taken for granted, but being taken to the cleaners on key legislative issues?

Tyra: It May Not be Blackface, but its still OFFENSIVE. It’s true that what Tyra did on her show wasn't blackface in the most traditional interpretation... but you know what? It still pisses me off.

Stay Away From My Vagina! “In a perfect world women would say "no thanks" to these surgeries, pick their sagging labia up and throw them over their shoulders (okay, yeah, a little gross) and walk into the sunset (and, of course, at nighfall having awesome sex with whomever they choose). But alas, this is not the case.”

I just read the peice by AFY's President and I really enjoyed it. I think that we as the prochoice movement have gone through quite alot this year if you think about it. We started off good with Obama's election because we thought we would be an advocate for us as well as the democratic super majority. Then we had the downward spiral from Dr. Tiller's death and now the Stupak Amendment. I also want to join James Wagoner in more vocal support for pro-choice candidates and legislation and really be critical of the democratic supermajority that could be doing alot more to push forward reproductive rights for women.
