The passage of California's Proposition 8 and the constitutional amendments banning same-sex marriage in Arizona and Florida are a blow to GLBTQ rights.  But I find it heartening that at least in CA and AZ, youth voters solidly opposed the bans.  (I don't have the Florida info right now.)

You are the generation that will make change - and this is one of many areas in which your right thinking will help not just your own generation but everyone - from me and my partner of six years, to the children growing up in a society that is making progress toward ending homophobia and discrimination.   So, well done, youth voters, and thank you.  We may have lost this battle but I know with your leadership we'll win the war!
