Amplify is a place to come together for a larger cause – the movement that we, as young people, have to lead. And when it comes to sexual health, reproductive justice, and making sure that the rights of young people – all young people, everywhere – are respected by those in power… Well, there’s an awful lot of work to do.
Change can look like a rally of 100,000 people in Washington, D.C.
Change can be as easy as clicking “send,” to submit a letter to your local newspaper paper or forward a blog entry to a friend.
Change can be as subtle as walking over to the new kid at school who is being picked on because he’s gay and saying hello.
You can call it whatever you want – idealism, friendship, faith, duty – but there’s something out there that each of us is willing to stand up and fight for. No one else is going to do it for us.
And that’s just fine, because we’re taking matters into our own hands.
That’s what Amplify is about.
So what are we going to do about it?
Amplify is a community, but it’s also a tool. The site is designed to:
- give individuals a platform to spread their ideas and share their stories
- build connections between people who care about similar issues
- make it easier to take action online and on a larger scale
Different people want different things, so pick and choose what you like – or take time to explore a bit. You never know what you might discover.

Here’s a rundown of what we have to offer:
Amplify Action Center
Elected officials are paid to represent you. Make sure they know how you feel about the issues and pending legislation. The Amplify Action Center has a list of all current alerts regarding comprehensive sex education, HIV prevention and treatment, GLBT rights, and other issues that affect young people. You can use the Action Center to write to your representatives about any other topic as well. Take action now!
Create Your Own Action Alerts
If you’re looking to change policy, gather signatures for a petition, or engage your friends about a cause, you can create an action alert for your own campaign. Fill out our online submission form, and we’ll set up an alert for you in the Amplify Action Center making it that much easier for you to get others involved. Then, simply send out the link via email, Facebook, MySpace or however else you want… Help people join your cause with the click of a button.
Join a Campaign
Amplify is the online home for Advocates for Youth’s Youth Activist Network (YAN). The YAN is a group of nearly 30,000 young people around the country who are involved with sexual health and reproductive justice issues. YAN members are currently working on a number of long-term youth-led campaigns – some are working to increase access to emergency contraception, while others are trying to improve U.S. foreign policy around HIV and AIDS. Check out our current campaigns and learn how you can get involved.
